Individuals who applied for healthcare coverage through Pennie and were assessed as potentially eligible for Medicaid (called Medical Assistance in PA) by Pennie but were then determined ineligible for Medical Assistance by the Department of Human Services will be sent back to Pennie for enrollment in healthcare coverage.
If the information used to determine Medical Assistance eligibility is correct, the individual should work with Pennie to pursue healthcare coverage options available to them. If the individual disagrees with the Medical Assistance eligibility determination and believes the County Assistance Office made a mistake, the individual has the option to appeal the Medical Assistance eligibility determination.
Don’t worry! Pennie is still available to help you shop for a great plan – high quality health coverage that is affordable and meets the healthcare needs of you and your family. While you may not be eligible for Medical Assistance, you may still qualify for financial assistance to lower the cost of health coverage and care by enrolling coverage through Pennie.
