A set of 10 categories of services health insurance plans must cover under the Affordable Care Act. These include doctors’ services, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, prescription drug coverage, pregnancy and childbirth, mental health services, and more.
While every plan must cover these benefits, that does not mean that all plans are the same.
Some plans may oﬀer a higher level of service or additional services beyond the minimum required or exclude other optional services that may be important to your health. It’s important to understand these diﬀerences when comparing and choosing a plan to meet your needs and budget. Plans must offer dental coverage for children. However, dental benefits for adults are not considered EHB.
