If you received financial savings to lower your monthly premium, called Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTC), you MUST file a federal tax return and report your APTC by completing Form 8962: Premium Tax Credit. Filling out this form will check to make sure you received the proper amount of APTC based on your actual household income. This is called Reconciling APTC. (Form 8962 is available from the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/affordable-care-act or from your tax preparer.)
IMPORTANT: You must reconcile your Advance Premium Tax Credits on your taxes. If you DO NOT reconcile your APTC, you may lose your financial savings towards your health coverage for the upcoming plan year.
