Health Reimbursement Arrangements or HRAs are offered by employers in place of traditional health insurance. HRAs reimburse employees for medical expenses. If you are offered an HRA from your employer this may affect your eligibly for tax credits when purchasing a plan through Pennie. There are several types of HRAs, but the most common two are individual coverage health reimbursement arrangements (ICHRA) and qualified small employer health reimbursement arrangements (QSEHRA). If you qualify, you should receive information from your employer regarding the type of HRA offered, the amount of the benefit, effective dates, other family members that may be covered, if minimal essential coverage is required, as well as any other terms set forth by the employer. A copy of this letter must be provided when applying for Pennie coverage.
