You can change your plan anytime during the Open Enrollment Period, which goes from Nov. 1, 2020 – Jan. 15, 2021. If you’re currently enrolled in a Marketplace plan, it is still a good idea to head to Pennie.com to shop around to make sure you understand all of your coverage options, even if you are able to stay enrolled in your current plan from healthcare.gov.
To change your health plan follow these steps:
- Log into your Pennie account.
- If you are enrolled in both health and dental plans, go to the tab for the correct type of plan and then click ‘Change Plan’.
- On the ‘Confirm your Plan Selection’ page, click the ‘Shop for a Different Plan’ button.
- Click ‘Remove Existing Plans & Go Shopping’. This enables you to select a new plan. Note that your previous plan is not actually removed until you enroll in a new plan. If you want to cancel your plan and not select a new plan, select Cancel Coverage in step 2.
After the Open Enrollment Period is over, you must have a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) to change your plan using a Special Enrollment Period.
